We’re very pleased to announce the completion of a major building project for Continental Divide Energy Cooperative (CDEC) in February 2023. The project featured a partnership with Formative Architecture to construct CDEC’s new administration headquarters.
Franken finished the project on time and on budget, despite some major unexpected hurdles. We had to break up and remove 14 acres of salt rock to run utilities and install the foundation. In addition, the owner’s original budget was set in 2020, right before a sharp increase in inflation in 2021. The cost of construction materials rose significantly during that period of time. But Franken worked with Formative to value engineer the design and find materials of the same quality to stay on budget.
The CDEC design build project was a prime example of owner, architect, and contractor (OAC) collaboration. Throughout the construction process, we held weekly OAC meetings. This allowed the team to make quick decisions and solve problems as soon as they came up.
“This project was a really successful collaboration,” said Franken Project Manager Sebastien Tapia. “We hit some major obstacles during construction, but working closely with Formative and CDEC let us find good solutions quickly. The level of professionalism shown by everyone was as good as it gets in the industry.”
At Franken, we pride ourselves on bringing our clients’ projects to reality — on time and on budget. If you have a construction project in mind, don’t hesitate to contact us. We would love to talk to you and figure out how we can make it happen.
