Franken Construction recently celebrated a significant milestone in the development of Central New Mexico Community College’s (CNM) new Skilled Trades Facility. On November 19, 2024, the project reached its “topping out,” marking the completion of the building’s structural framework. This achievement brings the facility one step closer to becoming a state-of-the-art training ground for future skilled trades professionals.
The topping out ceremony, held at the construction site located at 916 Buena Vista Dr SE in Albuquerque, was attended by CNM representatives, industry partners, and community members. Attendees had the opportunity to contribute vintage tools for a display honoring the legacy of tradespeople in the community. The event also featured a donor recognition list for those contributing to the display.
The new 60,000-square-foot facility is designed to house classrooms and labs for programs including Welding, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, and more. This modernized environment aims to attract and train students for high-demand careers that are essential to New Mexico’s economic development. The facility’s design allows for flexibility to adapt to evolving technologies and industry needs, ensuring that CNM remains at the forefront of trades education.
Franken Construction is honored to partner with CNM, Vigil Associations and Architekton on this pivotal project. The topping out milestone reflects the dedication and collaboration of all involved, bringing the vision of a cutting-edge trades training center closer to reality. As construction progresses toward completion, Franken Construction remains committed to delivering a facility that will serve as a cornerstone for trades education in New Mexico.
