Franken Construction is happy to share a progress update of the new state-of-the-art Skilled Trades Facility at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) Main Campus. This groundbreaking project, which began on June 29, 2023, marks a significant milestone in advancing trades education and training for New Mexico’s future workforce.
The new Skilled Trades Facility, spanning 60,750 square feet, is designed to accommodate CNM’s Carpentry, Electrical, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Plumbing, Industrial Automation Technology (Mechatronics), and Welding programs. This $58.7 million investment is a testament to CNM’s enduring commitment to providing high-caliber trades education, aligning with the college’s mission since its inception in 1965.
Since the groundbreaking ceremony, Franken Construction has made significant strides in bringing this vision to life. We are happy to share that a key milestone has been reached with the progress of the first building structure. This is a result of meticulous planning, coordination, and the collective effort of our dedicated team.
One of the highlights of the construction phase has been the successful concrete pour and the implementation of tilt-up panels. These panels form the building’s structural walls, providing both stability and flexibility for future modifications. The process involves pouring concrete into large molds, allowing it to cure, and then tilting the panels into their vertical positions. This method ensures a robust and durable structure while expediting the construction timeline.
